Venezuelan Mobile Operator Movilnet Deploying Netcom's Newest IVR System Built on NMS Communications' Open Access Platform

New Netcom Solution Handles 4 Million Calls per Day, Helps Movilnet Serve 1.8 Million CDMA Subscribers and +250k CANTV Fixed Wireless Subscribers Quickly, More Efficiently

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2005-- NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS - News), a leading provider of technologies and solutions for mobile applications and infrastructure, today announced that Latin American solutions provider Netcom has launched a new version of its FENIX interactive voice response (IVR) application, built on NMS Communications' Open Access(TM)
(http://www.nmscommunications.com/OpenAccess) development platform. The FENIX IVR, which is being deployed by CANTV Movilnet, the largest mobile network operator in Venezuela, now provides the power to process higher call volumes than ever before, with minimum overhead and network time.

Since its initial release, the FENIX IVR has been processing more than 2 million transactions per day, but with Netcom's new release, FENIX is now able to process multiple applications with four times the call traffic, using just a single server. NMS' high performance SS7 Open Access platform enables Netcom to respond quickly to wireless carrier's requirements like Movilnet by rapidly expanding system capacity and performance and adding new mission-critical interactive voice capabilities to FENIX. In addition, because NMS' standards-based Open Access platform supports both TDM and VoIP networks, FENIX operator and contact center customers are prepared for both current and future connectivity requirements without the need to change systems.

"Thanks to the robust, scalable solution provided by NMS' Open Access platform, FENIX is ideal for operators' network applications, prepaid processing, customer care and other mission-critical applications," said Ranieri Mestroni, President, Netcom. "Our customers value this extremely high reliability, as well as FENIX's robust and easy programming environment, allowing them to focus less on infrastructure issues and more on their real concern: efficient and blazing fast prepaid card processing."

"With Movilnet's meteoric growth in recent years, it's more important than ever that the applications we deploy today can scale to accommodate increases in customer calls and self-provisioning tomorrow, and Netcom's FENIX solution provides that," said Rafael Garcia, Operations Support Manager, Telecomunicaciones Movilnet. "In addition, one of the most impressive features of Netcom's IVR is the large call volume processing with amazing response time. We are very pleased with the performance and reliability that FENIX IVR provides allowing our corporation to concentrate on delivering superior network services."
